The Diplomat Box Office: John Abraham starrer stays over Rs. 1.50 crore mark on Wednesday

It was yet another stable day for The Diplomat as Rs. 1.52 crore came in. The first two weekdays were fair as collections managed to stay over Rs. 1.50 crore mark. That did depict good stability at the box office. Hence, now that Wednesday too has collected the same number, then it’s on the expected lines. Moreover, as long as collections stay on top of Rs. 1.35 crore mark today as well, it would be okay for the John Abraham starrer.

The collections now stand at Rs. 18.01 crores after 6 days. The first week collections would be in the vicinity of Rs. 19.50 crores now and then hold over the second weekend will lead the film towards Rs. 30 crores lifetime.

Now, there are two sides to these numbers. If one considers the manner in which the film arrived with hardly any awareness, then these would be fair numbers since many films with better promotion and marketing have also struggled to get even Rs. 20 crores at the box office, case in point being Vedaa, which closed at Rs. 20.25 crores, despite taking a much bigger opening of Rs. 6.75 crores. However, it was severely impacted by the Stree 2 wave.

On the other hand, if one considers the credentials attached to the film, especially John Abraham, who has delivered good successes with content based films like Parmanu: The Story of Pokharan and Madras Cafe, both of which scored comfortable half centuries and that too many years back, then one feels for The Diplomat as it should have also reached at least Rs. 50 crores, if not more.

Note: All collections as per various box office sources
