The Diplomat Box Office: John Abraham starrer manages to hang in there on second Friday

After managing stable, though low collections right through the weekdays, The Diplomat managed to hang in there on its second Friday. It ended up collecting Rs. 1.27 crore more which isn’t too far away from around Rs. 1.50 crore that it was collecting on a daily basis right from Monday to Thursday. Of course, the numbers are not ideal as the film deserved better. Still, at least they haven’t gone under Rs. 1 crore mark because that would have resulted in a very quick exit for the film. Now though, the film will play on till next Saturday at least before Sikandar arrives on Sunday.

The John Abraham starrer currently stands at Rs. 20.72 crores and it would be aiming to cross Rs. 25 crores by the close of second weekend. That should happen as well since Chhaava is the only other film that’s collecting, and the stage is wide open for The Diplomat to again attract urban multiplex audience towards itself. At key centres, especially North, this Shivam Nair directed film does have an edge and that’s where it will try to maximum its footfalls.

There were also a couple of other Hindi films that released this Friday - Tumko Meri Kasam and Pintu Ki Pappu. While former aimed at multiplexes of major cities, latter was set for the interiors. However, the collections didn’t quite come in and the combined numbers were below Rs. 1 crores mark.
