Surprise hit of 2023, 12th Fail, has crossed Rs. 54 crores at the box office and since its still playing at few shows in select theatres, it could well snail its way towards Rs. 54.50 crores in its lifetime. That’s a wonderful score for a film that came without any expectations. Now if the current run of HanuMan, another underdog film, is any indication, it could challenge the Vikrant Massey starrer.
This has been made possible by a huge jump that was evidenced on Friday when Rs. 1.85 crores more came in. What’s all the more remarkable is that on Thursday the film had come down to Rs. 0.75 crores and hence the Republic Day holiday advantage has come in really handy. At one point, it looked like it may just fall a bit short of the Rs. 50 crores mark but then momentum has been regained on Friday and now Prasanth Verma and team would be hoping that it sustains on Saturday and Sunday as well.
So far, the film has collected Rs. 41.44 crores and would reach Rs. 44-45 crores at least by tomorrow. That would bring it within Rs. 10 crores of 12th Fail. It will certainly not be an easy thing to surpass its lifetime due to Fighter filing the roost but then a couple of open weeks ahead means that even with basic stability, it could keep bringing in some moolah.
