It was a decent opening for Fighter as Rs. 24.60 crores came on Thursday. Yes, it was a regular working day and from that perspective, the collections are good. However, this is also a huge film with an A set up, and then comparisons with last year’s multiple all time mega blockbusters are such that even these numbers look lesser. However, if one observes this in isolation then a start is there for the film and now it’s all about the jumps that are evidenced from this point on.
This is where the real game begins because fortunately for the film, the critical acclaim is there and moreover, audience word of mouth is largely positive as well. For a film that has so much riding on it, these factors are really very important as it’s a long game from here and just the opening weekend isn’t going to decide the fate of the film. Had the numbers just got restricted to Rs. 20 crores mark or lesser, then this would have been a non-starter and with acclaim and word of mouth not on its side, it could have just fallen flat. Thankfully, that isn’t an issue with Fighter because that gap of a few crores can well be taken care of during this extended weekend and then with an open period ahead, sky is the limit for it.
Combo of Hrithik Roshan and Siddharth Aanand has already delivered well with War and Bang Bang in the past and one now waits to see where does Fighter land in comparison.
