PHIR AAYI HASSEEN DILLRUBA is not as gripping as the first part Movie Review: PHIR AAYI HASSEEN DILLRUBA is not as gripping as the first part.

Star Cast: Taapsee Pannu, Vikrant Massey, Sunny Kaushal

Director: Jayprad Desai

Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba Movie Review Synopsis: PHIR AAYI HASSEEN DILLRUBA is the story of two crazy lovers. After the events of the first film, Rani (Taapsee Pannu) and Rishu (Vikrant Massey) shift to Agra. But they stay separately and they don't even meet in the open fearing that they'll be caught by the cops. Rishu pays a heavy amount of Rs. 25,000 to a travel agent who has assured Rishi that he'll make fake passports after which the couple can leave India forever and fly to Thailand. Rani meanwhile bumps into Abhimanyu (Sunny Kaushal), a compounder, who falls crazily in love with her. On the other hand, Inspector Mrityunjay Prasad aka Monty chacha (Jimmy Sheirgill) meets Rani. He is the uncle of Neel (Harshvardhan Rane) and wants to get Rani behind bars for killing the former. He also gets suspicious that Rishi hasn't died. He tracks every move of Rani and even gets the travel agent arrested. Rishu secretly meets Rani and they plan to lie low for a while. Rani decides to marry Abhimanyu so that the cops are convinced that Rishu has indeed died and that she has moved on. The plan is to escape with Rishu at the right time and leave Abhimanyu heartbroken. But things don't go as expected for the couple. What happens next forms the rest of the film.

Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba Movie Story Review: Kanika Dhillon's story has a lot of twists and turns but is also full of cinematic liberties. Kanika Dhillon's screenplay is engaging but also gets a little messy in the second half. Kanika Dhillon's dialogues are one of the USPs of the film.

Jayprad Desai's direction is neat. The filmmaker knows how to keep the interest going and also doesn't waste time. Things unfold at a fast pace and also in an entertaining manner. The twist before the intermission comes as a bolt from the blue and is unexpected. The crocodile angle contributes to the chaos and also the entertainment quotient.

On the flipside, the second half is weak and things happen at convenience. Of course, the developments are unexpected but they defy logic. Also, it's clear to the cops that the characters are taking inspiration from pulp author Dinesh Pandit's books. Yet, they are not smart enough to go through their books to realize what their plan is. The changing dynamics between characters will also leave the audience a bit bewildered. Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba | Official Trailer | Taapsee Pannu, Vikrant Massey, Sunny Kaushal

Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba Movie Review Performances: Taapsee Pannu looks like a million bucks and delivers an exemplary performance. She especially stands out in the police interrogation scenes. Vikrant Massey, yet again, does a fine job and nicely adds to the madness. Sunny Kaushal is a great addition and surprises viewers with his performance. Jimmy Sheirgill is dependable. Aditya Srivastava (ACP Kishore) is okay and one wishes he had more to do. Bhumika Dube (Poonam) leaves a huge mark. Trupti Jagdish Khamkar (Inspector Meena) is decent.

Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba music and other technical aspects: The songs are forgettable, be it 'Haste Haste', 'Kya Haal Hai' and 'Azaad'. Anurag Saikia's background score stands out and is not the usual kind. Vishal Sinha's cinematography is impressive, especially the scenes shot in the swinging ship and in the climax. Nikhil Kovale's production design is appropriate. Varsha Chandanani and Shilpa Makhija's costumes are appealing, especially the sarees worn by Taapsee. Abbas Ali Moghul's action is not too gory this time. Hemal Kothari's editing is slick.

Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba Movie Review Conclusion: On the whole, PHIR AAYI HASSEEN DILLRUBA is not as gripping as the first part but nevertheless, has its share of entertaining scenes and twists and turns. Due to the casting, popularity of the first part and bold and thrilling content, it’ll get a huge viewership.
