Fighter Box Office Estimate Day 1: Hrithik Roshan-Deepika Padukone starrer disappoints with Rs. 21 crores on Thursday; eyes huge growth on Republic Day

Fighter has taken a subpar opening at the box office as early estimates indicate an opening day of Rs. 20 to 22 crores. The film opened to low numbers in the morning shows, but the occupancy improved towards the afternoon, evening, and night shows, pushing it towards the Rs. 20 crore mark. It's the lowest opener for the combo of Hrithik Roshan and Siddharth Anand, and leaves a lot for the film to cover up through its long run. With Republic Day Holiday on Day 2, Fighter will look at a 100 percent growth in the numbers.

Fighter has collected majorly in the top 4 cities - Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, and Kolkata - however, the business outside of the metros is poor, to say the least. The big plus for Fighter are the positive reports and the film is likely to show big gains on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Fighter will target to enter the Rs. 100 crore club in a span of 4 days and then continue to run in cinema halls for long.

The opening day numbers are not up to the mark but thankfully, director Siddharth Anand has delivered on the content front. The reason for opening can be attributed to poor marketing. It's a pity that a big-budget aerial action film with top stars and top directors suffered by a very poor marketing and PR campaign and the producers need to relook on their strategies for positioning big-ticket entertainers.

A film like Fighter should have easily looked at Rs. 35 to 40 crore on day one, but there isn't enough awareness in the on-ground audience. The positive talk should translate into big numbers, especially in the urban areas.
