Ajay Devgn returns to the big screen this week with the Abhishek Pathak-directed Drishyam 2. The movie is a sequel to his 2015 loved film, Drishyam, and has fetched a decent response in the advance booking counters so far. As of Tuesday evening, the movie has sold approx. 33,000 tickets in advance at the three national chains - PVR, Inox, and Cinepolis.
To note, of these 33,000 tickets, around 30 percent have been on the days when Drishyam 2 team ran an offer - tickets at discounted prices. With 2 days to go, it's crucial for Drishyam 2 to gain momentum and reach somewhere in the 70,000 range by Thursday night. Bookings upside of 70,000 will mean a double-digit start, whereas a booking under 70,000 number will result in the film depending on spot bookings.
The trailer of Drishyam 2 was appreciated and there is hope for an edge-of-the-seat thriller from Ajay Devgn and the team. If the word of mouth is good, Drishyam 2 can emerge as a successful bet. There is interest in the film, as indicated by advance booking in the early days, but it’s now time for Drishyam 2 to gain momentum and put up a healthy final advance booking figure. A good word of mouth would result in strong evening and night shows on Friday.
The movie stars Ajay Devgn, Akshaye Khanna, and Tabu in principal roles.
