Box Office: Jurassic World: Dominion leads the pack, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 is the best performing Hindi film on Saturday
It was Hollywood flick Jurassic World: Dominion that had the best collections for the day as Rs 9.50 crores* more came in. The film did well on Thursday paid previews and then continued to bring in numbers on Friday. Now with an increase in footfalls on Saturday, the trending is just right as it could have easily gone even a little lower. That typically happen with event Hollywood releases though which open at Rs 25 crores or more but since here the numbers were as it is lesser at Rs 8 crores, the momentum was there. The film now stands at Rs 21.25 crores.
Amongst Hindi release, it's Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 again that is bringing the best of the numbers. Despite the film being in its fourth week, it is doing better than all the other films currently playing, be it Samrat Prithviraj which is in its second week or new release Janhit Mein Jaari. On Saturday, it saw further increase in numbers to bring in 3.01 crores. This is quite good as now the total has reached 167.72 crores, which means lifetime numbers of Baaghi 2 [166 crores] have been surpassed in just 16 days, and there is so much more yet to come.
Samrat Prithviraj is staying low with Rs 2 crores* coming on the second Saturday. The film had started declining on the weekdays itself so the writing was clear on the wall. The kind of numbers that are coming in now are not surprising at all, though they are disappointing for sure since there was a lot riding on it. The film has collected Rs 58.65 crores* so far and one can well expect Akshay Kumar to have moved on now to his next set of biggies. He should strike back again with Raksha Bandhan, OMG - Oh My God 2 and Ram Setu next which should settle all the noise.
As for Janhit Mein Jaari, it saw good increase in numbers with Rs 0.82 crores*l crores coming on, though overall there isn't anything substantial about the outcome. Standing at a mere Rs 1.25 crores, the film is playing at a very limited count of screens and shows, and one waits to see how Sunday turns out to be.
*Estimates. Final numbers awaited
