With the success of his films, Tanhaji and Bhoot Police, Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan is on a roll. While the historical drama was the final big Bollywood hit before the lockdown, his subsequent horror comedy with Arjun Kapoor, which was released on an OTT site, received a lot of attention.
In response to the film's popularity and the positive feedback he's received for his part as a Tantrik, Saif said, “There are certain scripts that you read and fall in love with immediately because you see the potential they hold. You find it important that it gets made in a certain way because you have a lot of hope with that kind of script. ‘Bhoot Police’ is certainly one of them! This is a movie that is very close to my heart."
He further added, “We don’t have box office numbers and the same rules don’t apply."
The actor, who is being kept on his toes by his boys Taimur Ali Khan and infant Jeh Ali Khan, also offered his opinion on why he believes the film is appropriate for the family. "Horror and comedy are genres that are best viewed collectively in a group. This is a family movie and you can watch it with your young children without them getting scared and that’s always lovely," he said.
Saif issued a shout out in his statement, reminiscing about his time on set with his co-stars and the crew, "I want to thank everyone associated with the film, my co-actors Arjun, Yami and Jacqueline - Arjun especially, because we were in it together from the beginning and it was a lot of fun jamming with him on our scenes together."
Fans of the horror-comedy will be pleased to learn that a sequel is in the works. "We are very happy with the enormous traction the movie has received. We are very excited and have already started working on a sequel - which is the biggest sign of acceptance.”
In the film, Saif Ali Khan plays Vibhuti Vaidya, a Tantrik who is solely in the industry to make money and enjoy all of its pleasures but chooses to stay away from the job's possible dangers.
