After the frightful pandemic lockdown that witnessed many a business pulling down the shutter, finally theatres are beginning to resume, especially with the government permitting 100% occupancy. Though the road ahead is a long one to normalcy, the recent release Roohi seems to be benefitting from the resumption of business.
In this box office report we take a look at the opening day collections of Roohi while comparing the same to Rajkummar Rao’s previous releases. Collecting Rs. 3.06 cr on its opening day, Roohi has managed to become Rajkummar’s third highest All Time Opening Day Grosser. Interestingly, despite the current circumstances wherein a major portion of the audience is still reticent to venture into theatres, the business of Roohi has managed to surpass the collections of Rao’s previous releases like Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga that collected Rs. 2.9 cr, Dolly Ki Doli that had collected Rs. 2.55 cr, Bareilly Ki Barfi that had collected Rs. 2.42 cr, and Fanney Khan that collected Rs. 2.15 cr. Though the business of Roohi has been decent for the current times does not surpass the business of Rajkummar Rao’s previous releases like Stree that had collected Rs. 6.82 cr and Judgementall Hai Kya that had collected Rs. 4.5 cr.
However, trade buzz is that the business of Roohi will see decent spate of collections with the extended opening weekend working in favour of the film. If that wasn’t enough, given the audience feedback and turnout trade predictions state that though it will be a few months before we can see massive box office collections again, things have begun to move back to normalcy.
